Dance Of The Sea Fairy by Susan McKivergan
75% hand paintined, the rest 3D and some brushes/sky from Renderosity. For the model I used V4 and a basic texture/character and repainted her entirely, used part of an outfit for V4 purchased through Renderosity and painted over that too. The most work was spent on the character and all of her details/wings/hair/skin/face/eyes etc. I did use a ref. for the flying fish - never seen one of those before - and hand painted them in.
Fairy Magic by Susan McKivergan
...for lack of a better name...lol
Fairy Song by Susan McKivergan
The trees in the very very back were rendered first and painted over. Everything else is painted, no "stamp" brushes used - I love brushes don't get me wrong! But wanted to do a piece w/out them. The trees closer to the front are painted by hand, all the grass, flowers, etc etc.
Fire Dance by Susan McKivergan
Its for a possible project over at Duirwaigh Gallery
Also its in honor of Samhain, the witches new year, but its a couple days late (yes I am aware it is also a Celtic holiday) I have held my Pagan beliefs for about 8 years now (but somehow I always knew its what I was)
Characters rendered first in poser, then painted over in photoshop, hours and hours of painting, total time spent on this roughly 24-30 hours.
In The Garden by Susan McKivergan
Started as a simple background I was making for the packs I sell and decided I liked it to use myself too. Very basic renders done in poser pro (render actually was done by a friend of mine and given to me to test out my new background), corset by Chris T. everything repainted in photoshop by hand.
Pirates Treasure by Susan McKivergan
Despite my wrist being in some pain the last couple days I HAD to finish this. (besides, the real pain comes from typing and using my mouse, painting is minimal lol)
The original image is approx. 9000x7000, my computer was choking!
Again, details are lost due to size, but she has some old treasure map tats on her back and arm (as well as a pirate ship and skull and cross bones) some bits of the maps are from a brush set.
Base for the mermaid and ship were rendered in Poser (then repainted as usual), everything else, including tail, hair, water, fog, clouds, etc etc. is painting by hand (wacom tablet/pen) some brushes for some splash from RMP (rend.)
Suburban Ragdoll by Susan McKivergan
Parts of the bg are from rend, the other half is hand painted, the model is the ever lovely Ida Mary Walker I painted over her and hand painted many parts of her, there is very little left of the photograph. Wings are from rend, but also hand painted a little bit. No ref for the skirt.
The Whimsy Cats by Susan McKivergan
I put soo much work into this, seriously, I painted my little heart out. I always put my heart into my work, but this seemed to take so much more. When I rendered the base of the girl in Poser 6 I really had no idea where I was going with this, it sorta took on a life all its own and every time I thought I was done - I couldn't have been more wrong. The specifics:
I first rendered out the girl in Poser 6 (using the model Aiko 3 and parts of the outfit Elf Dance from RMP) as well as the cheetah. I then opened those PNG files in photoshop and created the scene around here using my Wacom graphics tablet - in other words I created everything around her by digital painting it by hand.
The trees are all digitally painted by hand, I used a ref for some of the floor tiles, a ref for the butterfly wings, but not for the fairy wings. I used a ref photo of a forest for some of the layout of the back trees. I used a distant foliage brush behind and above the trees - brush from ~rebelkitty
Twinkle by Susan McKivergan

Valentine Fairy by Susan McKivergan
Ok, last one I swear... I know the whole pink thing is getting obnoxious, but I am doing some images for licensing for tubes and I am doing a V-day pack of 12 (only 3 uploaded here with full backgrounds) so I wanted to put a few in my gallery.
Pretty basic, shes a fairy, its for valentines, yada yada its overly pretty and pink *gag*
